Hi WCDFW09, let me introduce to you Steven Ray. I had the quite enjoyable experience of meeting this guy the first day but didn’t really get a chance to connect with him until a group of us WCDFWers raided Sherlock’s post-conference.
Who: Meet Steven.
What: Steven is a User Experience Designer for Telligent. He is using WordPress for his personal blog and client portfolios.
When: Steven first got into wordpress back in 2005.
Where: Steven is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
How: WordPress helps meet Steven’s needs and goals because it is “easy & awesome.” He also loves the highly extensible nature of wordpress and that it is so flexible.

So far, I’m having a great time. I had no idea what to expect as this is my first Wordcamp experience. Even though some of the content is sometimes not extremely useful for me, I’m really enjoying the atmosphere and energy. I’ve fallen behind on covering the actual speakers and the points they are making. I’m not too worried about it though, as they are recording it all and will be posting it.
I’ll be honest, I just had the idea to cover this event last night and I really had no idea how much effort it would take. It just seemed like a good idea at the time. I wanted to cover DFW Wordcamp 2009 from two perspectives, from what the speakers were talking about and who was in the audience hearing it.
I wanted to cover the attendees by a simple interview. I ask them the 4 w’s and 1 h (Who, What, When, Where, & How) and introducing them to the DFW WP community, that is it. Pretty simple huh?

Here is the third installment of W4H1..
I had the pleasure of meeting Josiah Platt at the 2009 DFW Wordcamp. Seems like a really cool guy.
Who: Meet Josiah.
What: Josiah is a front-end designer & developer. He is also the Director of Web Techonologies at Project 7 and also the co-founder of Magnt. Currently he uses WordPress to run his personal blog and uses it for the majority of his clients.
When: Josiah got into wordpress way back when it was first kicked off and has been hooked ever since. He has experimented and used other CMS solutions but he still swears by wordpress.
Where: Josiah is from Dallas, Texas.
How: Josiah is using wordpress in a multitude of ways, but to sum up how excited he was when describing it to me: “WordPress is the easiest, most usable, accessible solution.”

Who: Meet Kyle Steed.
What: Kyle is a Web + Graphic Designer. He uses WordPress to run his blog and a new endeavor Chat Creative.
When: Kyle started playing with WordPress on wordpress.com about 2 years ago.
Where: Kyle is from Huntsville, Alabama.
How: Kyle is using wordpress mainly to participate and contribute to the worldwide design community. He is also using wordpress to feature his work, ideas and most recently has started video blogging.

Welcome to the first WCDFW09 W4H1 (who,what,when,where,how) Attendee Interview. It is my goal through these interviews to introduce some of the people sitting next to me, my talk recaps are only a small slice of what is going on here. There are 300+ attendees here, all with their own story.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mike D. Merrill at the 2009 DFW Wordcamp.
Who: Meet Mike D. Merrill.
What: Mike is a Corporate Marketing Consultant.
When: Mike started using wordpress this past March.
Where: Mike is from New Mexico.
How: Mike is using WordPress to demonstrate expertise for clients and conduct research for a book that is bouncing around in his head.
